Prepare the Sambal

  • Cayenne Pepper 80.0 g

  • Knorr Chicken Powder 1kg 10.0 g

Prepare the Fried Chicken

  • Chicken Thigh Fillet 500.0 g
  • Knorr Chicken Powder 1kg
  • Sugar 5.0 g
  • Salt
  • Pepper 10.0 g
  • Wheat Flour 40.0 g
  • Ice Cubes, as needed
  • Water, as needed
  • Frying Oil, as needed

Serving the Geprek Chicken

Geprek (smashed) chicken is a popular dish among millennials. Simple to make, but its spicy taste can easily make customers seek for more.



  1. Prepare the Sambal

    • Heat oil. Saute garlic, cayenne pepper and red chili.
    • Lift and move to the grinder. Add salt, Knorr Chicken Powder, mash/rub until the aroma comes out. Set it aside.
  2. Prepare the Fried Chicken

    • Season chicken fillets with salt, Knorr Chicken Powder, pepper, and sugar.
    • Mix flour with Knorr Chicken Powder and sugar, stir evenly.
    • Add some spiced flour into the water, mix well, and add ice cubes.
    • Add the spiced chicken to the dry flour mixture, stir the chicken with flour until blended. Then add the chicken to the mixture of flour and water. Put the chicken back into the dry flour mixture, lift it.
    • Fry chicken with hot oil until golden yellow.
  3. Serving the Geprek Chicken

    • Pour a small amount of used oil to fry chicken into the sambal, add the lime leaves and bay leaves, stir well.
    • Arrange the chicken on a serving plate then pour the sambal over the chicken.
    • Geprek chicken is ready to be served.
